Description
Clotrim 20g is a topical antifungal cream containing 1% clotrimazole, an azole antifungal agent effective against a broad spectrum of fungal infections. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes, leading to cell membrane disruption and fungal cell death. Clotrim 20g is commonly used to treat conditions such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other superficial fungal infections. The cream should be applied to the affected area and surrounding skin, usually twice daily, after cleaning and drying the area. Treatment duration varies depending on the infection type; for example, dermatophyte infections may require 3–4 weeks of application. It's important to continue using the cream for the full prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence. Common side effects include mild skin irritation or burning at the application site. Clotrim 20g is for external use only and should not be applied to mucous membranes or open wounds.
