Vonix 20 mg Tablet contains Vonoprazan Fumarate INN, equivalent to 20 mg of Vonoprazan. It is indicated for the treatment of:
Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers: 20 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers.
Reflux Esophagitis (GERD): 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks.
Maintenance Therapy for GERD: 10 mg once daily; may increase to 20 mg if necessary.
Prevention of NSAID- or Aspirin-induced Ulcers: 10 mg once daily.
Helicobacter pylori Eradication: 20 mg twice daily combined with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin and clarithromycin) for 7 days.
Vonoprazan works by inhibiting the H+, K+-ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion. Unlike proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), it does not require activation by gastric acid, leading to a more rapid and sustained acid suppression.
Administration: Vonoprazan can be taken without regard to food or timing of food.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Vonoprazan or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects: Common side effects include diarrhea, constipation, drug hypersensitivity, hepatotoxicity, rash, nausea, abdominal distension, and increased liver enzymes.
Pregnancy & Lactation: Use in pregnant or breastfeeding women only if the expected therapeutic benefit outweighs potential risks.
Precautions: Close observation of disease progression and minimum necessary dosage is recommended. Caution in the elderly, children, patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Storage Conditions: Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, away from light, and out of reach of children.
