Indications:
AMIT 25 MG is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, chronic neuropathic pain, migraine prophylaxis, and certain other psychiatric conditions.
Pharmacology:
Amitriptyline works by inhibiting the reuptake of neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine, enhancing their activity in the brain, which helps improve mood and relieve pain.
Dosage:
Usually, 25 mg once daily at bedtime, which may be increased gradually based on clinical response and physician’s advice.
Dosage varies depending on the condition treated and patient response.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food, preferably at bedtime to reduce daytime drowsiness.
Interaction:
May interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), SSRIs, other antidepressants, antihypertensives, alcohol, and certain medications that affect heart rhythm. Consult your doctor before combining with other drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to amitriptyline or other tricyclic antidepressants.
Recent myocardial infarction, heart conduction disorders, and use with MAO inhibitors.
Side Effects:
Dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, weight gain, and in some cases, increased heart rate or blood pressure changes.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult a doctor before use. Caution is advised during breastfeeding.
