Indications:
LOTEFLAM 5ML is indicated for the management of acute musculoskeletal pain, inflammation due to trauma, postoperative pain, and conditions like arthritis flare-ups.
Pharmacology:
Diclofenac sodium inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins which are mediators of pain and inflammation.
Dosage:
Typically, 75 mg (3 mL) intramuscularly once or twice daily. Dosage and frequency depend on clinical condition and physician’s advice.
Administration:
Administer by deep intramuscular injection preferably in the gluteal region. Avoid intravenous administration unless specifically formulated.
Interaction:
Can interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, and diuretics. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac, active gastrointestinal bleeding, severe heart failure, third trimester of pregnancy, and history of NSAID-induced asthma or allergic reactions.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include injection site pain, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, headache, and rare allergic reactions. Seek medical attention if severe adverse effects occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy. Use during breastfeeding only if benefits outweigh risks and under medical supervision.
Therapeutic Class:
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
Storage Conditions:
Store below 25°C in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
