Indications:
LIPITIN 10 MG is prescribed to manage hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke.
Pharmacology:
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol synthesis in the liver, leading to decreased cholesterol production and increased clearance of LDL cholesterol from the blood.
Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on patient response. Maximum dose is typically 80 mg daily.
Administration:
Take orally once daily with or without food. Consistent timing of dose is recommended.
Interaction:
May interact with other lipid-lowering agents, certain antibiotics, antifungals, and immunosuppressants. Inform your doctor about all medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to atorvastatin, active liver disease, pregnancy, and lactation.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, muscle pain, nausea, and elevated liver enzymes. Report severe muscle pain or weakness immediately.
