Indications:
LINAPTIN M 850 MG is prescribed for type 2 diabetes mellitus management to improve glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
Pharmacology:
Metformin works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Dosage:
Typically, 850 mg tablet taken once or twice daily with meals. Dose adjustments are based on blood glucose monitoring and physician’s advice. Maximum dose can go up to 2000-2550 mg per day.
Administration:
Oral administration with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow tablets whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with contrast agents, diuretics, corticosteroids, and other medicines affecting blood glucose. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken.
Contraindications:
Not suitable for patients with severe renal impairment, diabetic ketoacidosis, metabolic acidosis, or known hypersensitivity to metformin.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. Rarely, lactic acidosis can occur, which is serious and requires immediate medical attention.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
