Dexamethasone: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by inhibiting phospholipase A2, decreasing the synthesis of prostaglandins, and suppressing the migration of leukocytes to the site of inflammation.
Gatifloxacin: A fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes responsible for bacterial DNA replication and repair, leading to bacterial cell death.
Adults: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye every 2 hours for the first 2 days, then reduce to every 4 hours as the condition improves.
Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare provider based on the child's condition.
Wash hands thoroughly before use.
Tilt the head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch.
Hold the dropper above the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops.
Close the eye gently and press the inner corner to prevent drainage.
Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.
Prolonged use of corticosteroids may increase intraocular pressure.
Concurrent use with other ocular medications should be done cautiously to avoid potential interactions.
Hypersensitivity to Dexamethasone, Gatifloxacin, or any component of the formulation.
Active viral infections of the eye (e.g., herpes simplex keratitis).
Fungal infections of the eye.
Tuberculosis of the eye.
Temporary stinging or burning sensation upon instillation.
Increased intraocular pressure with prolonged use.
Cataract formation with long-term use.
Risk of secondary ocular infections due to immunosuppression.
Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Lactation: Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother.
