Indications:
Olmepres AM 20 mg is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. It is suitable for patients who require multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve their blood pressure goals.

Pharmacology:

Amlodipine: A dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance.
Olmesartan Medoxomil: An angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) that blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor.

Dosage:

Initial dose: 5 mg Amlodipine + 20 mg Olmesartan Medoxomil once daily.
Maintenance dose: May be increased to 10 mg Amlodipine + 40 mg Olmesartan Medoxomil once daily after 1–2 weeks, depending on blood pressure response.

Administration:

Take with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not chew or crush the tablet.

Interaction:

NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors may reduce the antihypertensive effect of Olmepres AM.
Concomitant use with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or salt substitutes containing potassium may increase the risk of hyperkalemia.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any component of this combination product.
Concomitant use with Aliskiren in patients with diabetes.

Side Effects:

Common: Peripheral edema, headache, dizziness, flushing, palpitations.
Less common: Vomiting, diarrhea, rhabdomyolysis, alopecia, pruritus, urticaria.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy: Contraindicated during the second and third trimesters due to potential fetal harm.
Lactation: Not recommended; decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, considering the importance of the drug to the mother.
