Indications:

BENZENOD 3MG is indicated for the short-term treatment of:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder

  • Nervous tension

  • Emotional instability

  • Anxiety-associated insomnia

  • As a premedication before minor surgical or diagnostic procedures

Pharmacology:

Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine that acts on the central nervous system by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter. This results in sedative, anxiolytic, and muscle-relaxant effects, helping to calm the brain and reduce anxiety symptoms.

Dosage:

  • Adults: 1.5 to 3 mg two to three times daily, depending on the severity of the symptoms.

  • Elderly or debilitated patients: Lower initial doses (e.g., 1.5 mg once or twice daily) are recommended.
Dosage must be individualized and adjusted under medical supervision.

Administration:

BENZENOD should be taken orally, with or without food. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Dosage timing may be adjusted depending on whether the main symptoms are daytime anxiety or nighttime sleep disturbances.

Interaction:

  • May enhance the sedative effects of alcohol, antipsychotics, antihistamines, opioids, and other CNS depressants

  • Caution with medications metabolized by the liver (e.g., fluoxetine, cimetidine)

  • Avoid use with other benzodiazepines or drugs that prolong sedation

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to bromazepam or other benzodiazepines

  • Severe respiratory insufficiency

  • Myasthenia gravis

  • Sleep apnea syndrome

  • Severe hepatic impairment

  • History of drug or alcohol dependence

Side Effects:

  • Common: Drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, confusion, memory impairment

  • Less common: Headache, blurred vision, muscle weakness, dry mouth

  • Rare: Paradoxical reactions (e.g., agitation, aggression), dependence, withdrawal symptoms on discontinuation

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Not recommended, especially during the first trimester; may cause fetal harm or withdrawal symptoms in the newborn

  • Lactation: Should be avoided as bromazepam may pass into breast milk and affect the infant
