Indications:
Pantaz 30 mg is indicated for the treatment of:
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Peptic ulcers
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination therapy)
Stress ulcer prophylaxis in critically ill patients
Pharmacology:
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works by irreversibly binding to the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) in the stomach lining, thereby inhibiting the final step of gastric acid production. This results in a significant and prolonged reduction in gastric acid secretion.
Dosage:
GERD and Peptic Ulcers: 40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks.
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: 40 mg twice daily, adjusted based on clinical response.
Helicobacter pylori Eradication: Combination therapy with antibiotics as prescribed.
Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis: 40 mg once daily.
Administration:
Take Pantaz 30 mg tablet orally.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Preferably take the tablet in the morning before meals.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Interaction:
Pantaz may interact with:
Antacids: May reduce the absorption of Pantaz.
Methotrexate: Increased risk of methotrexate toxicity.
Digoxin: May increase digoxin levels.
Warfarin: Enhanced anticoagulant effect.
Atazanavir: Reduced absorption of atazanavir.
Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Pantoprazole or any component of the formulation.
Severe liver impairment.
Concurrent use with atazanavir.
Side Effects:

Nausea
Vomiting
Abdominal pain
Flatulence
Dizziness
Serious side effects may include:
Severe allergic reactions
Liver dysfunction
Low magnesium levels
Bone fractures with long-term use
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Category B. Use during pregnancy should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Lactation: Pantoprazole is excreted in breast milk. Use during breastfeeding should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the infant.
