Indications:
VORICON 200 MG is indicated for treatment of invasive fungal infections including aspergillosis, candidemia, and infections caused by Scedosporium and Fusarium species.
Pharmacology:
Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal agent that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme 14α-sterol demethylase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis and fungal cell membrane formation.
Dosage:
Typical adult dosage is 200 mg every 12 hours orally or as directed by the physician based on infection severity.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. For IV use, follow hospital protocol. Adhere strictly to dosing schedule.
Interaction:
Voriconazole interacts with many drugs including rifampicin, carbamazepine, and certain statins. Inform healthcare provider of all medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to voriconazole or other azole antifungals.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include visual disturbances, liver enzyme elevations, rash, and gastrointestinal upset.
