Indications:
LOPEZ 10 MG is indicated for treatment of hypertension, prevention of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and diabetic nephropathy with elevated serum creatinine and proteinuria.
Pharmacology:
Losartan blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to blood pressure reduction and kidney protection.
Dosage:
Typical dose for hypertension is 50 mg once daily, which may be started at 10 mg in some patients. Dose adjustment depends on response and clinical condition.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow tablets whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, NSAIDs, and lithium. Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines taken.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to losartan, pregnancy, and bilateral renal artery stenosis.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, nasal congestion, and increased potassium levels. Report severe symptoms like swelling or difficulty breathing immediately.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use only if clearly needed during breastfeeding under medical supervision.
Therapeutic Class:
Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB).
