Indications:
Management of neuropathic pain, adjunctive therapy for partial seizures, and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
Pharmacology:
Pregabalin binds to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing neurotransmitter release and calming nerve activity.
Dosage:
Typical starting dose is 50 mg two to three times daily, adjusted based on patient response and physician’s instructions.
Administration:
Orally, with or without food. Follow prescribed dose and schedule strictly.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants, opioids, and alcohol, increasing sedation risk.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or its components.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, weight gain, and peripheral edema.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult physician before use while breastfeeding.
