Indications:
VORTON 5 MG is indicated for the treatment of nausea, vomiting, and gastric motility disorders such as gastroparesis.
Pharmacology:
Domperidone acts as a dopamine receptor antagonist, enhancing gastric motility and accelerating gastric emptying by blocking dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract.
Dosage:
Typically 5 mg three times daily, 15 to 30 minutes before meals, or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
Take orally with water before meals. Adhere to prescribed dosage and duration.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs that prolong QT interval or CYP3A4 inhibitors. Disclose all medications to healthcare provider.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to domperidone, prolactinoma, or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include dry mouth, abdominal cramps, dizziness, and rarely cardiac arrhythmias.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed in pregnancy; consult healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
