It works by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes, which are essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth.

Dosage:

  • Adults and children 6 years of age and older:

    • Days 1 through 3: Instill one to two drops in the affected eye(s) every 30 minutes to 2 hours while awake and approximately 4 and 6 hours after retiring.

    • Day 4 through treatment completion: Instill one to two drops in the affected eye(s) every 1 to 4 hours while awake.

  • Children under 6 years: Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

Administration:

Hold the dropper above the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops into the conjunctival sac. Close your eye and blink a few times to spread the medication evenly. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to any surface to prevent contamination.
