Indications:
LOPEZ 5 MG is prescribed for treatment of hypertension, prevention of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy, and diabetic nephropathy with elevated serum creatinine and proteinuria.

Pharmacology:
Losartan blocks angiotensin II binding to AT1 receptors, causing vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion, leading to lower blood pressure and kidney protection.

Dosage:
Initial dose often starts at 25-50 mg once daily. In some patients, especially with kidney issues, 5 mg dose may be prescribed. Dosage is adjusted according to patient response.

Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow whole with water.

Interaction:
May interact with potassium supplements, diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensives. Inform your doctor about all medicines you use.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to losartan, pregnancy, and bilateral renal artery stenosis.

Side Effects:
Dizziness, fatigue, nasal congestion, hyperkalemia, and rarely angioedema. Seek immediate medical attention if severe allergic reactions occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Use with caution during breastfeeding only under doctor’s advice.
