Indications:
ETOCOX 90 MG Tablet is indicated for the symptomatic relief of:
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
Acute gouty arthritis
Moderate pain following dental surgery
Pharmacology:
ETOCOX 90 MG contains Etoricoxib, a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). By inhibiting COX-2, Etoricoxib reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of pain and inflammation, thereby providing relief from pain and reducing inflammation.
Dosage:
Osteoarthritis: 30 mg once daily; may increase to 60 mg once daily if necessary.
Rheumatoid arthritis: 90 mg once daily.
Ankylosing spondylitis: 90 mg once daily.
Acute gouty arthritis: 120 mg once daily for a maximum of 8 days.
Dental surgery pain: 90 mg once daily for a maximum of 3 days.
Administration:
ETOCOX 90 MG Tablet should be taken orally, with or without food, as directed by the physician. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not chewed or crushed.
Interaction:
Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin): May increase the risk of bleeding.
Antihypertensives (e.g., ACE inhibitors, diuretics): Etoricoxib may reduce the effectiveness of these medications.
Lithium: NSAIDs may increase lithium plasma levels.
Ciclosporin/Tacrolimus: Co-administration may increase the risk of nephrotoxicity.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etoricoxib or any component of the formulation.
Active peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Severe hepatic impairment.
Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min).
Pregnancy and lactation.
Children and adolescents under 16 years of age.
History of cardiovascular disease, including heart failure, angina, stroke, or transient ischemic attack.
