Indications:
TOCEF 200 MG is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia), skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, and Lyme disease.

Pharmacology:
Cefuroxime axetil is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage:
The usual dose for adults is 250 mg twice daily. For children, dose is calculated based on body weight. Treatment duration depends on the type and severity of infection.

Administration:
Take orally with food to enhance absorption. Complete the full prescribed course even if symptoms improve.

Interaction:
May interact with antacids, probenecid, and other antibiotics. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken.

Contraindications:
Patients allergic to cephalosporins or penicillin should avoid this medication.
