Indications:
TROPIGEN 5 ML is indicated for pupil dilation during eye examinations, diagnosis of eye conditions, and temporary relief of ocular inflammation and pain.
Pharmacology:
Tropicamide is an anticholinergic agent that blocks muscarinic receptors in the eye, causing relaxation of the iris sphincter muscle and resulting in pupil dilation (mydriasis).
Dosage:
Typically, 1-2 drops are instilled into the affected eye(s) 15-30 minutes before the examination or as prescribed by the ophthalmologist.
Administration:
Wash hands before use. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface. Tilt head back, pull down lower eyelid, and instill the prescribed number of drops.
Interaction:
May interact with other anticholinergic drugs or ophthalmic medications. Inform your doctor about all current eye treatments.
Contraindications:
Not recommended for patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or hypersensitivity to tropicamide.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include eye irritation, burning sensation, blurred vision, and increased sensitivity to light.
