Indications:
ANQUIL 15 MG is indicated for the management of schizophrenia and other chronic psychoses.
Pharmacology:
ANQUIL contains Fluphenazine, a phenothiazine derivative that blocks dopamine D2 receptors in the brain, helping to control psychotic symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual adult oral dose ranges from 2.5 to 20 mg per day in divided doses depending on the severity. Dosage should be adjusted individually and maintained at the lowest effective dose.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants, antihypertensives, and anticholinergic agents. Caution is advised with alcohol and MAO inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fluphenazine, comatose states, and in patients with brain damage or liver disease.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and extrapyramidal symptoms.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is excreted in breast milk; use with caution in lactating mothers.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, and extrapyramidal reactions. Use cautiously in elderly patients and those with cardiovascular disease.
