Indications:
TIAPINE 25 MG is prescribed for the management of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic and depressive phases), and as part of combination therapy for major depressive disorder. It helps reduce hallucinations, mood swings, and depressive symptoms.
Pharmacology:
Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic that works by blocking dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain to balance neurotransmitters involved in mood and perception.
Dosage:
Starting dose usually 25 mg once or twice daily. The dose can be gradually increased by the physician according to patient response and condition severity.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food as directed. Swallow tablets whole without crushing or chewing.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants, antihypertensives, and CYP3A4 metabolized drugs. Inform your doctor about all medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to quetiapine or formulation components. Use with caution in patients with heart disease, seizures, or diabetes.
Side Effects:
Common effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, weight gain, and low blood pressure. Rarely, serious reactions like neuroleptic malignant syndrome may occur.
