Indications:
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain).
Pharmacology:
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscles, leading to dilation of blood vessels and improved blood flow.
Dosage:
Typical dose: 5-10 mg once daily. For SLIPAM 30 mg, dose should be as prescribed by physician.
Administration:
Oral use, with or without food, once daily.
Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensive drugs, CYP3A4 inhibitors, and grapefruit juice; consult a doctor before use.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, swelling of ankles, flushing.
