Moxigen 400 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of:
Acute bacterial sinusitis
Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
Community-acquired pneumonia
Uncomplicated and complicated skin and skin structure infections
Complicated intra-abdominal infections
Pelvic inflammatory disease
Moxifloxacin is a synthetic, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair.
Acute bacterial sinusitis: 400 mg once daily for 7-10 days.
Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 400 mg once daily for 5-10 days.
Community-acquired pneumonia: 400 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections: 400 mg once daily for 7 days.
Complicated skin and skin structure infections: 400 mg once daily for 7-21 days.
Complicated intra-abdominal infections: 400 mg once daily for 5-14 days.
Pelvic inflammatory disease: 400 mg once daily for 14 days.
Always follow the dosage prescribed by your healthcare provider.
Antacids, sucralfate, multivitamins, and multivalent cations (e.g., iron or zinc): Decrease the absorption of Moxigen.
NSAIDs: May increase the risk of convulsions.
Warfarin: May enhance the risk of bleeding.
Inform your doctor about all the medications you are taking.
Hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin or other quinolones.
History of tendon disorders related to quinolone use.
Pregnancy and lactation (Category C).
Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness.
Serious: Tendonitis, tendon rupture, QT interval prolongation.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any severe side effects.
Pregnancy: Category C. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Lactation: Not recommended during breastfeeding.
