It works by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes, which are essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, thereby preventing bacterial cell division and growth.
Dosage:
Adults and children 1 year of age and older:
Days 1 and 2: Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake, up to 8 times per day.
Days 3 through 7: Instill 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 4 hours while awake, up to 4 times per day.
Children under 1 year: Safety and effectiveness have not been established.
Administration:
Before application, wash your hands thoroughly. Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops into the conjunctival sac. Close your eye and blink a few times to spread the medication evenly. Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to any surface to prevent contamination.
Interaction:
Specific drug interaction studies have not been conducted with GENOLEV 0.5% Eye Drop. However, systemic administration of some quinolones has been shown to elevate plasma concentrations of theophylline, interfere with the metabolism of caffeine, and enhance the effects of the oral anticoagulant warfarin and its derivatives.
