Indications:
HEXIPHEN 2 MG is indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis (hay fever), chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), and other allergy-related symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and itching.
Pharmacology:
Fexofenadine is a selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist that blocks the effects of histamine, thereby reducing allergic symptoms without causing sedation.
Dosage:
Typical dose for adults and children over 12 years is 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily depending on the condition and doctor’s advice. For children aged 6-11, dose adjustment is necessary.
Administration:
Take orally with water, with or without food. Avoid taking with fruit juices as they may reduce absorption.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, which can reduce absorption. Inform your doctor about all other medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any component of the formulation. Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment.
Side Effects:
Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include headache, drowsiness, nausea, and dry mouth. Report any severe reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Therapeutic Class:
Second-generation antihistamine.
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
