Indications:
INFUD 5GM is indicated for treatment of serious bacterial infections such as lower respiratory tract infections, septicemia, meningitis, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
Pharmacology:
Ceftriaxone is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins, causing bacterial lysis and death.
Dosage:
Typical adult dose: 1-2 grams once daily or in divided doses depending on infection severity. Maximum dose up to 4 grams per day. Dose and duration depend on infection type and patient condition.
Administration:
Administered by intramuscular or intravenous injection/infusion. Reconstitute as per instructions. Dose and infusion rate must be followed strictly.
Interaction:
May interact with calcium-containing IV solutions leading to precipitation. Avoid simultaneous administration with calcium. May interact with anticoagulants and aminoglycosides.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, cephalosporins, or penicillins. Neonates (especially premature) with hyperbilirubinemia.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include pain at injection site, rash, diarrhea, allergic reactions, and rarely, biliary sludge. Report severe reactions immediately.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally safe in pregnancy and lactation but use only if clearly needed and prescribed.

Storage Conditions:
Store powder in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Protect from moisture. Once reconstituted, use as directed or discard.
