Description
Camlor 4 mg Tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. The active ingredient, lornoxicam, belongs to the oxicam class and exhibits potent analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It functions by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, leading to reduced synthesis of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation and pain. Camlor is indicated for the short-term relief of acute mild to moderate pain, as well as the symptomatic treatment of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The recommended dosage for adults is 8 to 16 mg daily, divided into 2 or 3 doses, not exceeding 24 mg per day. In patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic impairment, the maximum daily dose should be reduced to 12 mg, divided into 2 or 3 doses. Camlor is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to lornoxicam, peptic ulcer, severe hepatic or renal impairment, thrombocytopenia, and during the third trimester of pregnancy. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain. Serious adverse effects may include gastrointestinal bleeding, renal impairment, and hypersensitivity reactions. Patients should be monitored for signs of gastrointestinal bleeding, especially the elderly and those with a history of peptic ulcer disease. It is advisable to use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to minimize risks. Camlor should be used with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or asthma. Alcohol consumption should be limited during treatment, as it may exacerbate side effects. Patients are advised to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if experiencing dizziness or drowsiness while on this medication.
