Description
Laxopride 1 mg Tablet, containing Prucalopride Succinate, is used to treat chronic constipation in adults where other laxatives have proven ineffective. By selectively activating 5-HT₄ receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, it enhances colonic motility, facilitating bowel movements. The recommended dosage for adults is 2 mg once daily, with or without food. For elderly patients, an initial dose of 1 mg once daily is advised, which may be increased to 2 mg if necessary. Prucalopride is contraindicated in individuals with severe renal impairment requiring dialysis and should be used with caution in those with severe hepatic impairment. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea, which typically resolve after continued use.
