Colacap 40 mg is a nutraceutical capsule manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It contains Undenatured Type II Collagen, derived from chicken sternum cartilage using a patented low-temperature, non-enzymatic process that preserves its natural triple helix structure and biological activity. This collagen has a unique mechanism of action, containing active binding sites called epitopes that trigger oral tolerization. These epitopes interact with Peyer's patches in the small intestine to release collagen-specific regulatory T-cells, which then migrate to joint areas and prevent the release of T-cells. This process reduces inflammation, halts the erosion of joint cartilage, and promotes cartilage rebuilding. Colacap 40 mg supports joint function, mobility, and flexibility and also improves knee extension by up to 10% for better range of motion. It is indicated for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, joint pain and inflammation, difficulties in flexibility and mobility, joint discomfort and stiffness, impaired joint function, and issues arising from strenuous exercise and sports. The recommended dosage is one capsule daily with water, or as directed by a physician. Colacap is generally well-tolerated, with potential side effects including constipation and headache in case of overdose. It is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to chicken or egg proteins.
