🔸 Indications:
M Lucas 10 mg is indicated for:

Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma

Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis
-
Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction
🔸 Pharmacology:
Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA). It blocks leukotriene D4 at the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor in the lungs and bronchial tubes, reducing inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and mucus production.
🔸 Dosage:

Adults & adolescents (15 years and older): 10 mg once daily in the evening

For allergic rhinitis: 10 mg once daily at any time
🔸 Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Should be taken regularly even when symptom-free.
🔸 Interaction:
-
Minimal interaction with commonly used drugs
-
Caution with phenobarbital, rifampin, or other CYP450 enzyme inducers
🔸 Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any component of the formulation
🔸 Side Effects:

Headache
-
Abdominal pain
-
Cough
-
Rare: mood changes, suicidal thoughts (very rare and mostly in children)
🔸 Pregnancy & Lactation:

Considered safe in pregnancy (Category B)

Use only if clearly needed during lactation
🔸 Precautions & Warnings:

Not indicated for acute asthma attacks

Use with caution in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders

Monitor mood or behavioral changes
