Indications:
Orbidex T Eye Ointment is indicated for:

  • Bacterial eye infections with inflammation

  • Blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and keratitis

  • Post-surgical eye inflammation and infection

  • Superficial ocular trauma or allergic reactions at risk of infection

Pharmacology:

  • Dexamethasone: A corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory effects that reduces redness, swelling, and irritation in ocular tissues by inhibiting inflammatory mediators.

  • Tobramycin: An aminoglycoside antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. It is effective against many gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria.

Dosage:

  • Apply a small amount (approx. 1 cm strip) into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) 2 to 3 times daily, or as prescribed.

Administration:

  • For ophthalmic use only

  • Wash hands before and after use

  • Pull down lower eyelid and apply ointment inside the lower lid

  • Avoid contact between the tube tip and any surface

Interaction:

  • Avoid using with other topical eye agents unless advised by a physician

  • Risk of systemic absorption is low, but caution with other aminoglycosides systemically

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to tobramycin, dexamethasone, or any formulation component

  • Viral or fungal infections of the eye (e.g., herpes simplex)

  • Untreated purulent eye infections

Side Effects:
Common:

  • Temporary blurred vision

  • Eye discomfort or burning

  • Foreign body sensation

Prolonged use may lead to:

  • Increased intraocular pressure

  • Secondary fungal infections

  • Cataract formation

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly necessary and prescribed. Avoid prolonged use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Monitor intraocular pressure during extended treatment

  • Do not use contact lenses during treatment

  • Use within prescribed duration to avoid complications
