Description
Olmevas AM 5/40 mg is a fixed-dose combination tablet manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd., designed to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines 5 mg of Amlodipine Besilate, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, with 40 mg of Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents blood vessel constriction. This dual mechanism effectively lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of cardiovascular events like stroke and heart attack. The typical starting dose is one tablet taken once daily, which may be adjusted based on individual response. Common side effects include peripheral edema, dizziness, and flushing. Olmevas AM should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can harm the developing fetus. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding. Patients with severe liver or kidney problems should use Olmevas AM with caution and under medical supervision.
