Description
Glycenor 25 mg Tablet contains Empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Empagliflozin works by inhibiting the SGLT2 protein in the kidneys, which reduces glucose reabsorption and increases glucose excretion through urine. This mechanism helps lower blood sugar levels, assist in weight loss, and reduce blood pressure. Glycenor is typically taken once daily in the morning, with or without food. The initial dose is 10 mg, which may be increased to 25 mg based on individual response and tolerance. It is important to correct any volume depletion before starting treatment. Common side effects include urinary tract infections, genital fungal infections, dehydration, hypotension, weakness, dizziness, and increased thirst. Glycenor is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or those on dialysis. Before starting treatment, renal function should be assessed, and it should not be initiated if the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m².
