Description
Olmevas AM 5/20 mg is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active ingredients: Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Amlodipine Besilate, a calcium channel blocker. Olmesartan works by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood, while Amlodipine helps relax the blood vessels by inhibiting calcium from entering muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. Together, these two medications help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events like stroke and heart attack. This medication is typically prescribed for patients who require more than one drug to control their blood pressure and is generally taken once daily. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function is recommended during treatment.
