ZYROLIN 400 MG is primarily used to treat fungal infections caused by different types of fungi, including Candida and Dermatophytes. It is effective in treating skin infections, nail infections, and systemic fungal infections. It may also be prescribed for the treatment of conditions like onychomycosis (nail fungus), tinea corporis (ringworm), and blastomycosis.
Pharmacology:
ZYROLIN 400 MG contains Itraconazole, which is a triazole antifungal agent. Itraconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption of the cell membrane inhibits fungal growth and reproduction, leading to the eradication of the infection. It is effective against a wide range of fungal pathogens, including those responsible for superficial and systemic infections.
Dosage:

For skin and nail infections: The typical dose is 200 mg twice daily for the first week, followed by 200 mg once daily for 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the severity of the infection.

For systemic fungal infections: The usual dose is 200 mg to 400 mg per day, divided into 1 or 2 doses.

For onychomycosis (nail infection): The recommended dose is 200 mg daily for 12 weeks.
Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.
Administration:
ZYROLIN 400 MG should be taken orally with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. It is advisable to take it with a meal to enhance absorption.
Complete the prescribed course of treatment even if you feel better, to ensure the infection is completely treated.
Interaction:
ZYROLIN 400 MG may interact with the following medications:

CYP450 inhibitors (like Ritonavir, Ketoconazole): Can increase Itraconazole levels in the blood, increasing the risk of side effects.

Antacids: These can reduce Itraconazole absorption and decrease its effectiveness.

Warfarin: Itraconazole can increase the blood-thinning effect of Warfarin, which may lead to bleeding.

Tacrolimus: This drug may have an increased risk of toxicity when used with Itraconazole.
Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements, and vitamins.
Contraindications:
ZYROLIN 400 MG is contraindicated in individuals with:

Hypersensitivity to Itraconazole or any of the ingredients of the medication.

History of heart failure or any heart conditions, as Itraconazole can worsen these conditions.

Lactation: Itraconazole is excreted into breast milk, and it is generally advised to avoid breastfeeding during treatment with ZYROLIN 400 MG. Consult your healthcare provider for more information before taking this medication while breastfeeding.
