ROSU 10 MG is indicated for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) and dyslipidemia (abnormal levels of fats in the blood). It helps to lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides while raising high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. It is also used for the prevention of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, stroke, and angina, especially in individuals at high risk.
Pharmacology:
ROSU 10 MG contains Rosuvastatin, which is a member of the statin class of medications. Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a key role in the production of cholesterol in the liver. By reducing cholesterol production, Rosuvastatin helps to lower the levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides in the blood while increasing HDL (good cholesterol). This reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and other cholesterol-related health problems.
Dosage:
The usual adult dose of ROSU 10 MG is 10 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient’s response and cholesterol levels. The maximum recommended dose is 40 mg per day. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
Administration:
ROSU 10 MG should be taken orally, with or without food. It is typically taken once a day, at the same time each day for best results. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
Interaction:
ROSU 10 MG may interact with other medications, such as certain antibiotics, antifungals, and other cholesterol-lowering drugs (like fibrates and other statins), increasing the risk of muscle problems.
It can also interact with certain blood thinners (like warfarin), affecting blood clotting.
Always inform your doctor about all the medications, supplements, and herbs you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
Contraindications:
ROSU 10 MG is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to Rosuvastatin or any of its components.
It should not be used in patients with active liver disease or unexplained elevated liver enzymes.
Caution is advised when using ROSU 10 MG in individuals with kidney problems, thyroid disorders, or muscle disease.
It is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include headache, muscle pain, abdominal pain, nausea, and constipation. Rare but serious side effects may include liver damage, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), and allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing). If any severe side effects occur, seek medical attention immediately.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: ROSU 10 MG is contraindicated during pregnancy as it may harm the developing fetus. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medication.
Lactation: Rosuvastatin is not recommended during breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk and harm the baby. Discuss alternative treatments with your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
Therapeutic Class:
Statins, Antihyperlipidemic Agents, Lipid-lowering Drugs.
Storage Conditions:
Store ROSU 10 MG at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
