Indications:
ORBIDEX 3GM is indicated for:
Treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis
Prophylaxis of urinary tract infections before surgical procedures
Pharmacology:
Fosfomycin trometamol is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by inactivating the enzyme enolpyruvyl transferase. This action prevents the formation of peptidoglycan, a key component of the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and death. It is excreted unchanged in the urine, where it reaches high concentrations effective against urinary pathogens.

Adults (Female): One 3g sachet as a single oral dose
Not recommended for children under 12 years unless directed by a physician
Administration:
Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of water and drink immediately on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime and after urination.
Interaction:
Should not be taken with metoclopramide as it may reduce plasma concentration of Fosfomycin
No significant interaction with food
