ZYROLIN 600 MG is primarily used to treat a variety of fungal infections caused by different pathogens, including:
Onychomycosis (nail fungus)
Tinea corporis (ringworm)
Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
Blastomycosis
Candidiasis (Candida infections)
Histoplasmosis and other systemic fungal infections
Itraconazole is effective against both superficial and deep systemic fungal infections and is often prescribed for long-term treatment of fungal conditions.
Pharmacology:
ZYROLIN 600 MG contains Itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a crucial component of the fungal cell membrane. By disrupting the formation of ergosterol, Itraconazole weakens the fungal cell membrane, inhibiting the growth and reproduction of the fungus. It is effective against a wide range of fungi, including both dermatophytes and yeast-like organisms, and can treat superficial and invasive fungal infections.
Dosage:
For skin infections (like Tinea or Onychomycosis): The typical dose is 200 mg twice daily for the first 1 week, followed by 200 mg once daily for the next 3–4 weeks, depending on the infection's severity and location.
For systemic fungal infections: The usual dose is 200 mg to 400 mg daily, divided into 1 or 2 doses.
For Candida infections: 200 mg once or twice daily for a specific period as advised by the doctor.
Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.
Administration:
ZYROLIN 600 MG should be taken orally with food to enhance absorption. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the capsule.
It is important to take the medication exactly as prescribed, even if you start feeling better, to ensure the infection is completely cleared.
Interaction:
ZYROLIN 600 MG may interact with the following medications:
CYP450 inhibitors (e.g., Ritonavir, Ketoconazole): Can increase the concentration of Itraconazole in the blood, which may lead to an increased risk of side effects.
Antacids: These may reduce the absorption of Itraconazole, making it less effective.
Warfarin: May increase the effects of blood-thinning, increasing the risk of bleeding.
Tacrolimus: Risk of toxicity can increase when used in combination with Itraconazole.
Statins (e.g., Atorvastatin): Increased risk of muscle-related side effects.
Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements.
