Description
Civox 5 ml is a sterile ophthalmic solution containing Ciprofloxacin 0.3%, manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers (keratitis), and otitis externa. Ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, works by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, effectively eliminating the infection. For bacterial conjunctivitis, the recommended dosage is one or two drops instilled into the affected eye every two hours while awake for the first two days, then every four hours for the next five days. In cases of corneal ulcers, the dosing schedule is more intensive, with two drops every 15 minutes for the first six hours, then every 30 minutes for the remainder of the first day, followed by hourly administration on the second day, and every four hours from days three to fourteen.
