Description
Mylofen 10 mg Tablet contains the active ingredient baclofen, a centrally acting muscle relaxant. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of spasticity resulting from conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological disorders. Baclofen works by stimulating GABA-B receptors in the spinal cord, inhibiting the release of excitatory neurotransmitters like glutamate and aspartate, thereby reducing muscle tone and spasticity. The typical starting dose for adults is 5 mg three times daily, gradually increasing to a maximum of 100 mg per day, depending on individual response and tolerance. For children under 10 years, the dosage is adjusted based on age and weight, starting from 2.5 mg four times daily. Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue. Use of Mylofen during pregnancy is not recommended unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks, and it should be used cautiously in breastfeeding mothers. Patients with renal impairment or a history of psychiatric disorders should use Mylofen under strict medical supervision. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and consult a healthcare provider before starting or discontinuing the medication.
