ZIBAC 500 MG is used to treat various bacterial infections. This includes respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia, bronchitis), skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections. Azithromycin, the active ingredient, works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing the bacteria from growing and spreading.
Pharmacology:
ZIBAC 500 MG contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic. Azithromycin works by binding to the bacterial ribosome at the 50S subunit, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis which is necessary for bacterial growth and reproduction. As a result, it effectively combats a wide range of bacterial infections. Azithromycin is particularly useful against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, and some atypical pathogens.
Dosage:

For adults and children over 6 months: The usual dose is 500 mg on the first day, followed by 250 mg once a day for the next 4 days.

For respiratory infections: 500 mg once daily for 3 to 5 days.

For skin infections: 500 mg once a day for 3 to 5 days depending on severity.

For urinary tract infections: Typically 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
Always follow your doctor’s recommendations regarding the dosage and duration of the treatment.
Administration:
ZIBAC 500 MG should be taken orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may alter its effect.
It is important to complete the entire course of treatment, even if symptoms improve, to fully eradicate the infection.
Interaction:
ZIBAC 500 MG may interact with the following medications:

Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium: These can reduce the absorption of Azithromycin.

Anticoagulants like warfarin: These can increase the risk of bleeding.

Other antibiotics or antifungals: These can either reduce or enhance the effect of Azithromycin.
Always inform your doctor about any other medications, including over-the-counter products, vitamins, or herbal supplements you are using.
Contraindications:
ZIBAC 500 MG should not be used in individuals who have a known allergy to Azithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics, or any of the ingredients in the medication. It should also be avoided in patients with severe liver impairment or a history of jaundice due to Azithromycin use.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: ZIBAC 500 MG should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Azithromycin is classified as a Category B drug, indicating that animal studies have not shown any risk to the fetus, but adequate studies in pregnant women are limited.
Lactation: Azithromycin is excreted into breast milk in small amounts. It is generally considered safe for breastfeeding mothers, but you should consult your healthcare provider before taking ZIBAC 500 MG while nursing.

Storage Conditions:
Store ZIBAC 500 MG at room temperature (15°C to 25°C), away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep the medication tightly closed in its original container. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use the medication after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
