Indications:
Used for the treatment of hypertension. It helps lower blood pressure and reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.
Pharmacology:
Olmesartan medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that removes excess fluid and sodium via urine. Combined, they provide a synergistic effect in controlling blood pressure.
Dosage:
One tablet once daily or as directed by a registered physician. Dose may be adjusted based on patient response.
Administration:
Should be taken orally with or without food, at the same time every day for best results.
Interaction:
May interact with NSAIDs, lithium, potassium supplements, or other antihypertensives. Caution with alcohol and diuretics.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with anuria, hypersensitivity to any component, or severe renal impairment.
Side Effects:
Dizziness, headache, fatigue, electrolyte imbalance, increased urination, and occasional gastrointestinal discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy, especially second and third trimesters. Use with caution during lactation after consulting a physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes regularly. Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney disease.
