LOMEBAC 5 ML is an ophthalmic solution containing 0.3% Lomefloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic developed by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is primarily used to treat bacterial eye infections such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and corneal ulcers caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Lomefloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, leading to the rapid killing of susceptible bacteria. The recommended dosage for adults and children over 1 year is to instill 1 drop into the lower conjunctival sac 2–3 times daily. Initially, more frequent applications may be necessary, with up to 5 drops within 20 minutes or 1 drop every hour during the first 6–10 hours. The treatment duration typically ranges from 7 to 9 days.
