Description
Laxopic 10 mg Tablet, containing Sodium Picosulfate, is a stimulant laxative used to treat constipation and to prepare the bowel for surgical or diagnostic procedures. It works by stimulating the colon's nerve endings, enhancing peristalsis, and increasing water and electrolyte secretion into the colon, thereby facilitating bowel movements. The recommended dosage for adults and children over 10 years is 5–10 mg per day, preferably taken at bedtime to produce evacuation the following morning. For children aged 4–10 years, the dosage is 2.5–5 mg per day. Prolonged use should be avoided to prevent dependency and electrolyte imbalances. Contraindications include intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal conditions, and known hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate. Potential side effects may include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, and syncope.
