RENOPRO 20 is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, and kidney disease, particularly in diabetic patients with diabetic nephropathy. It helps in reducing the progression of kidney disease and improves heart function by lowering blood pressure.
Pharmacology:
RENOPRO 20 contains Enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. By inhibiting the enzyme responsible for converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a vasoconstrictor, Enalapril helps to relax the blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and reduce the strain on the heart. This also helps protect the kidneys, especially in diabetic individuals.
Dosage:
The typical dose of RENOPRO 20 is one tablet daily, but the dosage may vary depending on the patient's condition, such as blood pressure levels, kidney function, or heart failure severity. The doctor will determine the appropriate dose for each individual patient.
Administration:
RENOPRO 20 should be taken orally, with or without food. It is recommended to take the medication at the same time every day for better results and easier adherence to the treatment plan.
Interaction:
RENOPRO 20 can interact with other antihypertensive medications, diuretics, potassium supplements, and certain medications that affect kidney function.
It may also interact with lithium, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or other drugs that can alter kidney function.
Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications (prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal supplements) that you are taking.
Contraindications:
RENOPRO 20 is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to Enalapril or any other ACE inhibitors.
It should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may harm the fetus.
RENOPRO is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema (swelling), particularly due to ACE inhibitors.
Caution should be used in patients with severe renal (kidney) impairment or hyperkalemia (high potassium levels).
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and dry cough. Serious side effects may include a significant drop in blood pressure, kidney dysfunction, and allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, or throat. If any of these serious side effects occur, immediate medical attention is necessary.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: RENOPRO 20 is contraindicated during pregnancy, especially after the first trimester, due to the potential harm it can cause to the developing fetus.
Lactation: It is not known if RENOPRO 20 is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to a breastfeeding mother.
Therapeutic Class:
ACE Inhibitors.
Storage Conditions:
Store RENOPRO 20 at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
