Indications:
TELMIVAS AM 80/5 MG is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by Telmisartan or Amlodipine alone. This combination also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with additional risk factors.
Pharmacology:
TELMIVAS AM 80/5 MG contains two antihypertensive agents:

Telmisartan (80 mg): An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and blood pressure reduction.

Amlodipine (5 mg): A calcium channel blocker (CCB) that inhibits calcium ions from entering vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in relaxation of blood vessels and reduced blood pressure.
These two agents work through complementary mechanisms to provide effective blood pressure control.
Dosage:

The usual recommended dose is one tablet daily.

Dose adjustments should be made under medical supervision based on the patient's clinical response.
Do not adjust the dose without consulting your physician.
Administration:

Take TELMIVAS AM 80/5 MG orally once daily at a fixed time.

Can be taken with or without food.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or crush.
Interaction:

Combining with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or other drugs affecting potassium levels may lead to hyperkalemia.

NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effects.

Caution is advised when used with other antihypertensive agents due to additive effects.

Grapefruit juice may enhance Amlodipine's effect.
Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are using.
Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, Amlodipine, or any component of the formulation.

Second and third trimester of pregnancy.

Severe hepatic impairment.

Cardiogenic shock, unstable angina, or recent myocardial infarction (specific to Amlodipine).

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy: Not recommended, especially in the second and third trimesters due to risk of fetal harm.

Lactation: Use with caution. Discuss with your healthcare provider before use if breastfeeding.
