TORAMAX 30 MG is primarily used for:
Edema (fluid retention) caused by conditions like heart failure, kidney disease, and cirrhosis.
Hypertension (high blood pressure), as part of a comprehensive treatment regimen.
Other inflammatory conditions where fluid retention is a concern, such as in cases of liver cirrhosis or chronic kidney disease.
It helps reduce fluid buildup in the body, which can reduce swelling, improve heart function, and alleviate associated symptoms.
TORAMAX 30 MG contains Torsemide, a loop diuretic and NSAID. Torsemide works by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the kidneys, which increases urine output and reduces fluid retention. As a diuretic, it helps lower blood pressure and reduces swelling associated with fluid retention in conditions like heart failure and cirrhosis. Additionally, as an NSAID, Torsemide helps reduce inflammation and pain by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, substances that contribute to inflammation and pain.
Edema or Fluid Retention: The typical starting dose for adults is 20 mg to 40 mg once daily, depending on the severity of the condition.
Hypertension: The usual dose is 10–20 mg once daily, often in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Dosage may be adjusted based on response and clinical judgment.
Always follow the doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and administration. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Take TORAMAX 30 MG orally with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Take the medication at the same time each day for best results.
ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), and other diuretics may increase the risk of kidney dysfunction and electrolyte imbalances when combined with Torsemide.
Combining NSAIDs with Torsemide may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and kidney problems.
Lithium levels may increase, leading to toxicity when used with Torsemide.
Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products.
Severe kidney impairment or anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine).
Hypersensitivity to Torsemide or other sulfonamide derivatives.
Severe liver dysfunction or cirrhosis with ascites.
Electrolyte imbalance (especially low potassium or sodium levels).
Common side effects include:
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Dehydration or excessive thirst
Low blood pressure (hypotension)
Electrolyte imbalances (low potassium, sodium, or magnesium)
Headache
Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting)
Serious side effects include:
Severe dehydration
Kidney dysfunction
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)
If you experience symptoms such as swelling, difficulty breathing, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, seek medical attention immediately.
Pregnancy: Torsemide should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. It is classified as a Category C drug, meaning its effects on the fetus are not fully known.
Lactation: Torsemide is excreted into breast milk, so it is advisable to consult your doctor before using this medication while breastfeeding.
