Description
Civox 500 mg is an antibiotic medication manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. It contains Ciprofloxacin, a synthetic fluoroquinolone that inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial replication and growth. This broad-spectrum antibiotic is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. Civox 500 mg is commonly prescribed for various infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections like enteric fever and infectious diarrhea, bone and joint infections, and pelvic infections. It is also used in the treatment of gonorrhea and as a prophylactic measure in certain surgical procedures. The typical dosage for adults is 500 mg twice daily, with the duration varying based on the type and severity of the infection.
