Pharmacology:

Parkinor 110 mg is a combination of Levodopa and Carbidopa. Levodopa is a precursor of dopamine that crosses the blood-brain barrier and is converted to dopamine in the brain, helping to improve motor control. Carbidopa inhibits the peripheral decarboxylation of Levodopa, thereby increasing its availability in the brain and reducing side effects like nausea.

  • Initial Dose: 25 mg Levodopa / 10 mg Carbidopa, taken 3–4 times daily.

  • Maintenance Dose: Adjusted based on patient response, typically up to 8 tablets per day.

  • Administration: Swallow tablets whole with water; do not chew or crush.

  • Timing: Can be taken with or without food, but avoid high-protein meals as they may interfere with absorption.

Interaction:

  • Increased Effect: Amantadine, anticholinergics, amphetamines.

  • Decreased Effect: Antipsychotics (e.g., haloperidol), reserpine, pyridoxine (Vitamin B6).
