Indications:
DULOXEN is indicated for:
Major depressive disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder
Diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain
Fibromyalgia and chronic musculoskeletal pain
Pharmacology:
Duloxetine inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, increasing their levels and improving mood, pain modulation, and anxiety symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Typically start with 30 mg once daily; dose may be increased up to 60 mg daily based on clinical response.
Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
Caution with MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, SNRIs, and other serotonergic drugs due to risk of serotonin syndrome.
Interaction with anticoagulants, alcohol, and CYP1A2 inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Duloxetine
Use of MAO inhibitors within 14 days
Uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma
Side Effects:
Nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue
Insomnia, constipation
Rare: liver toxicity, serotonin syndrome
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed; consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts
Gradual dose tapering recommended to avoid withdrawal symptoms
Use cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment
